VoceDemos is the founding society behind Mentalbrot. Its purpose is to reclaim political power from oligarchy, corporatocracy, and big tech by building a system of transparent, intelligently weighted democracy that gives both the people and qualified expertise a real voice.
The Problem
- Most governments function as oligarchies. Power concentrates in the hands of a few.
- Representative systems are easily corrupted. Private and corporate interests shape decisions.
- Direct democracy alone is not enough. Many citizens lack the time, information, or preparation to evaluate every issue well.
- Weighted systems alone can become elitist. The voices of ordinary people get ignored.
- Big tech increasingly mediates public thought. Platforms shape attention, discourse, and mass behavior without democratic accountability.
The Aim
VoceDemos exists to build intelligent democracy: a system where the voice of the people and the voice of expertise both matter.
What Is Intelligent Democracy?
Intelligent democracy combines three ideas into a better civic model: the broad legitimacy of democratic participation, the practical insight of qualified expertise, and transparent public visibility into how people are actually thinking.
- Voice of the people: everyone can vote and the public can see where the majority stands.
- Voice of the experts: people with demonstrated qualifications in relevant domains carry more weight on those issues.
- Checks and balances: majority opinion and weighted expert judgment keep each other in check.
- Transparency: the public can see the civic mind taking shape instead of relying on opaque power structures.
How It Works
- Qualification portfolios: members document education, experience, skills, certifications, and other credentials.
- Verification and testing: qualifications are strengthened through verification, testing, and ongoing learning.
- Categorical weighting: votes carry different weight depending on issue relevance and demonstrated expertise.
- Demographic relevance: people most affected by an issue can be given greater priority where appropriate.
- Transparent tabulation: both popular and weighted results are visible, making conflicts impossible to ignore.

VoceDemos is the political and philosophical society behind the creation of Mentalbrot. Mentalbrot focuses on the broader intelligence economy: project sharing, education, collaboration, and commerce. VoceDemos focuses on the civic layer: how intelligent people should govern themselves, weigh decisions, and reclaim democratic power from entrenched institutions.
What We’re Doing Now
We are in the founding phase. The immediate goal is to gather members, refine the theory, build trust, create public polling and discussion systems, and form the early infrastructure for intelligent democratic participation.
